Christ is Enough
This week’s texts from Scripture are:
Sermon Outline:
Christ the King (vv. 15–16)
Jesus Reveals God
“He is the image of the invisible God…”
Jesus is not like God—He is God.
Jesus Is Firstborn Over All Creation
Not about chronology, but authority and kingship.
He reigns over all things, everywhere, every time.
Jesus the Creator
All things created by Him, through Him, and for Him.
Our identity and purpose are found in Him—not in work, success, or circumstances.
2. Christ the Sustainer (v. 17)
“In him all things hold together.”
When life feels like a tornado, Jesus is the one who sustains and steadies us.
He is enough in suffering, grief, loss, and chaos.
3. Christ the Head and Reconciler (vv. 18–20)
Jesus, Head of the Church
Firstborn from the dead—preeminent in everything.
The Fullness of God in Christ
All divine power and majesty dwelling in Him.
Peace Through His Cross
Through His blood, Jesus reconciles all things to Himself.
4. Our Condition Without Christ (vv. 21–22)
Without Jesus: alienated, hostile in mind, doing evil deeds.
Even our best works fall short of God’s holiness.
Our Hope in Christ
Through His death, He presents us holy, blameless, and above reproach.
5. Our Call: Continue in the Faith (v. 23)
All the promises of Christ are ours if we continue in the faith.
Steadfastness is not achieved through willpower:
We endure because Jesus is enough.
Even weak faith holds when its object is strong.
Our Anchor
Hebrews 6:19: Jesus is our “sure and steadfast anchor of the soul.”
